about

Spider Skin is a deceptively upbeat tune that is so bouncy and cheerful it is disturbing and borders on deranged, with a bit of a bitter lemon twist in the lyrics. A satire of the way living an ultra busy life is proudly declared and worn as a badge of honour, often masking the emptiness at its core. Not in a holier than thou high horse way though, as pure laziness is equally rubbish. Lots of spangly, sparkling old school Dr Who sound effects make for a technicolour listen. The sound effect on the end section is reminiscent of the terrifying noise Yul Brynner made as the murderous robot cowboy in Westworld when he was closing in for the kill.
